Run your agents from anywhere: an open-source Nimbalyst iOS alternative
Nimbalyst's iOS app needs a paired desktop; Kortix is the open-source alternative that runs agents from any surface. Each Kortix session runs on its own cloud computer, so you start, watch, and steer from a phone browser, Slack, or Microsoft Teams.
Where the work runs
Nimbalyst Mobile is a companion app. It links to the Nimbalyst desktop app over a QR code, and the writing, running, and committing happen on your desktop machine. Code files, images, diagrams, and mockups stay there, and the phone can read and edit only the markdown it syncs, which is in alpha (Nimbalyst, checked October 2026). That design suits a desktop-first tool, and it makes the phone a window onto work a Mac is already doing.
Kortix runs the session on its own computer
Kortix is the open-source AI Operating System, and every session runs on its own isolated cloud computer instead of your laptop. The session boots a machine, clones your project, cuts a branch named after the session, and works there. A phone only needs a browser or a chat app to reach it, because the compute is already somewhere else (Kortix).
Start, watch, and steer from any surface
You reach the same session from the web app, the desktop app, a phone browser, the CLI, Slack, Microsoft Teams, or email, where email is experimental and per project. The Kortix app in Slack and Teams starts a session when someone mentions the bot with a task, and the reply lands in the same thread. Open a session from a phone at lunch and read the result on a laptop later, because it is the same session on every screen.
Approvals reach you wherever you are
A tool call set to Ask holds until a person approves it, and the request reaches you in the web app or in the channel. You set three connector actions, Allow, Ask, or Block, and Ask pauses the agent mid-turn and resumes it when you answer. Approval gates are off until you set them, so you decide how much the agent does on its own. For the wider choice, see Kortix vs Nimbalyst.

Running Kortix from a phone
Does Kortix have an iPhone app?
Kortix reaches a phone through its web app and through Slack, Microsoft Teams, and email; the native mobile app is not public. None of them needs a paired desktop, because the session runs on its own cloud computer.
Do I need to install a desktop app?
No. The session boots on its own isolated cloud computer, so a browser or a chat app is enough to start, follow, and steer the work. Nothing has to stay running on your laptop for the agent to finish.
Can I approve an agent's work from my phone?
Yes. A tool call set to Ask holds until a person approves it, and the prompt reaches the web app, Slack, or Microsoft Teams. Approval gates are off until you set them.
How is this different from Nimbalyst Mobile?
Nimbalyst Mobile pairs to the Nimbalyst desktop app and shows work that runs on your desktop machine. Kortix puts the compute on a cloud computer per session, so the phone is a window onto work that is not tied to one desk.
